Pattana Pragathi: Officials told to focus on sanitation, enhancing green cover

Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy stated that government took up Pattana Pragathi programme to address the sanitation, drinking water and others issues in towns and municipalities. On Sunday, he participated as chief guest for the Pattana Pragathi meeting held at the district collectorate.

Commissioners, municipal chairmen, vice-chairmen and councilors of ULBs in the district attended the meeting. Addressing them, the Minister said Pattana Pragathi would decide the future of towns and added that environmental issues have been plaguing all the countries in the world.

"Nobody expected that people would buy drinking water," he said, adding that in future people would be forced to buy oxygen if the pollution levels rise further. He advised the people to plant saplings in 30 per cent of the plots in the interest of future generations.

Describing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao a visionary leader, he said State government has been taking all measures to mitigate the environmental issues and in this connection, took up Haritha Haram to develop 33 per cent forest cover in the State.

He advised the people's representatives to take responsibility to develop their towns in all aspects in the interest of people and their future. The Minister asserted that government would not give permission to construct houses under electrical wires passing through the plot areas and added that government decided to remove all the electrical wires passing over the residences in the towns across the State.

"The CM is committed to develop all the villages of the State under Palle Pragathi and towns through Pattana Pragathi programmes," he said. District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil presided over the function and Additional Collector Rahul Sharma, MLAs Kancharla Bhupal Reddy, Nomula Narasimhaiah and Chirumarthi Lingaiah and others took part in the event.
