PD Act against wood smugglers

Mancherial: Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana booked PD Act on habitual wood smuggler Edla Srinivas, resident of Manthani and on his two followers Kududala Kishan Kumar of Kunsaipet under Manthani and Koravena Madhukar of Velochanavaram under Manthani mandal of Mancherial district.

Addressing a press meet at Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district on Wednesday, the Commissioner said 12 cases were registered against Srinivas under Ramagundam police Commissionerate and he is the most wanted criminal in four states - Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. Besides this, several other cases were booked against him by forest department with respect to illegal felling of trees in reserved forests. He was habituated to wilful destruction of government property and causing great loss to national wealth and maintenance of public order, he stated.

This was part of the ongoing drive to curb forest and wildlife offences initiated by the State government.
