PD Act invoked against Ramji Nagar gang
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat has invoked four inter-State ganja traffickers and attention diversion gang popularly known as Ramji Nagar gang on Tuesday.
The accused are identified as Partivan Deepak (31), Thangaraj Sathyaraj (31), Yogaraj (23) and Suresh (36), all from Tamil Nadu.
According to police, prime accused Deepak in 2011 went to jail from Ramji Nagar police station for committing a murder.
In the year 2014, he along with his friend Laxman committed looted a car in Delhi and was arrested and sent to Tihar Jail by the Delhi police. Later, he was released on bail and joined the gang of Ramji Nagar where he came into contact with other accused persons.
On May 7, along with other accused persons he targeted ATM loading crew with currency by diverting their attention to notes on the road near an ATM.
When the staff members started picking up the currency notes they looted cash of Rs 58.97 lakh and made off. After committing the above offence, they went to their home town, shared amount and spent part of amount on home needs.
They procured 15 kg ganja from an un-known person, started for Hyderabad in order to sell the same and to commit attention diversion offences in Hyderabad.
On a tip-off Vanasthalipuram police arrested the four offenders on August 14 red-handed in a vehicle checking while they were transporting ganja.
Police seized the contraband, one car, 6 mobile phones and Rs 4.10 lakh cash from their possession and remanded them to the judicial custody.
On Tuesday Rachakonda Commissioner invoked Preventive Detention Act against them and sent the accused Central Prison, Cherlapally.
