Pedda Hanuman Jayanti celebrated at Kondagattu
Jagtial: Lakhs of Hanuman devotees thronged to Kondagattu temple to have darshan of Lord Anjaneya Swamy on the occasion of three-day long Pedda Hanuman Jayanthi at Malyala mandal of Jagtial district on Wednesday.
As part of the tradition, the authorities of Sri Rama temple of Bhadrachalam presented silk clothes to Lord Anjaneya Swamy on Tuesday.
Despite the scorching heat, lakhs of devotees from various parts of the State including neighbouring States visited the historic Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple on the day.
Panchamukha Anjaneya Swamy is the presiding deity of Kondagattu temple, which has been described as the first of its kind in the State with a history of about 500 years.
The temple authorities made elaborate arrangements for the three-day celebrations for the convenience of the devotees. They set up 100 temporary toilets and two temple tanks filled with Mission Bhagiratha water and 50 chalivendram (water kiosks) in view of the severe heat conditions prevailing here.They also prepared three lakh laddus to distribute as prasadam after observing the heavy rush.
After taking a holy dip in the temple tank arranged by the authorities, the devotees offered prayers, performed puja as per the rituals and sought blessings from Lord Anjaneya Swamy.
Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar visited the temple and offered prayers to Lord Hanuman on the occasion. The temple priests along with the authorities accorded a grand welcome to the Minister.
Later, Minister Koppula Eshwar inspected the arrangements made for the convenience of Hanuman devotees in the temple premises. Jagtial MLA Dr M Sanjay Kumar, Choppadandi MLA Sunke Ravi Shankar and Joint Collector Rajesham accompanied the Welfare Minister.
