Peddapalli LS poll: Triangle fight between TRS, Congress, BJP

Peddapalli: The Peddapalli Parliamentary constituency is going to witness a keen triangular contest between B Venkatesh Netha of TRS, Dr A Chandrashekar of Congress and S Kumar of BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Peddapalli constituency, which is reserved for SCs, contains seven Assembly segments - Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Manthani, Dharmapuri, Chennur, Bellampalli and Mancherial. Out of this seven, the TRS had won five Assembly seats - Peddapalli, Dharmapuri, Chennur, Bellampalli and Mancherial where as Congress had won only one seat - Manthani and Korukanti Chandra Patel of All India Forward Bloc had won from Ramagundam but later joined the TRS. There are 14,69,056 voters under Peddapalli parliament constituency. Of this, 7,36,004 voters are male and 7,32,972 are female and 80 other voters.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Balka Suman from TRS had won with a bumper majority of 2,17,521 votes defeating his rival G Vivek of Congress. Vivek later joined the TRS. Balka Suman got 5,63,214 votes whereas 3,45,693 votes were polled for G Vivek.

In the recent Assembly elections, Balka Suman contested from Chennur Assembly constituency on TRS ticket and won over B Venkatesh Netha of Congress. However, in later developments, Venkatesh

Netha joined the TRS and was nominated for Peddapalli Parliament constituency.

Taking the 17th Lok Sabha elections prestigiously with the intention of making Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister of India, the Congress party nominated former Minister Dr A Chandrashekar as their candidate from Peddapalli constituency.

The ruling TRS to continue its winning formula in even unexpected circumstances has nominated Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha, who belongs to weavers community, denying ticket to TRS advisory member and former MP G Vivek, who is the son of senior leader and union Minister G Venkata Swamy. Sulking over ticket denial, G Vivek resigned from the party.

Meanwhile, the BJP, which is also determined to win Peddapalli LS seat, has nominated senior journalist and BJP State secretary Sangala Kumar, who actively participated in separate Telangana movement and winner of KK Birla award. All the three candidates are conducting vigorous election campaign and trying to reach every voter with the support of local leaders. They are explaining the voters what developmental activities they will take up if they got elected. they are promising the people of solving all the issues they are facing and striving hard for emerging as winners in coming LS elections, slated to be held on April 11.
