People told to be aware of online fraudsters

Peddapalli: Assistant Sub-Inspector of Kamanpur mandal, Peddapalli district, P Shyam Patel appealed to the people to be aware of online fraudsters, who will cheat innocent people by sending letters in the name of noted companies like Naaptol, Snapdeal, Amazon etc., and not to do online money transactions without knowing the complete details of the opposite party.

The ASI said for the past few days, some persons are receiving letters in the form of speed register posts in the name of Naaptol, Snapdeal and Amazon companies informing them that they were selected in a lucky draw and won a crash card worth of Rs 15 lakh.

'In the letter, they will ask the persons to pay some amount for tax and registration fees, so that they can transfer the cash prize, which they won in lucky draw, into their bank account. They will even send application form asking them to fill the details of the bank account number and IFSC code etc.,' he explained.

Recently, one Gaddi Srinivas, resident of Nagaram village of Kamanpur mandal, received a speed register post in a sealed cover.

When he opened the cover, he found a letter with QR code along with a form. They asked him to fill the form and scan the QR code and send it through WhatsApp. Srinivas became suspicious and approached the Kamanpur police, the ASI informed.

Shyam Patel appealed to the people not to believe such kind of letters and do online money transactions as they would get cheated by them online fraudsters. He told the people not to disclose their bank particulars to such fraudsters. He asked the people to inform the nearby police immediately if they receive such letters, so that action could be taken against such online fraudsters.
