Peddapalli: ZP chief Putta Madhu inaugurates Jalahitha programme

Peddapalli: ­Zilla Parishad Chairman Putta Madhu and District Collector Sikta Patnaik inaugurated Jalahitha programme at Mallapur, Katikepalli and Kothur villages of Dharmaram mandal on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the ZP chief said that canal repair works were taken up under Jalahitha programme as part of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's plan to supply Kaleshwaram water for every village for irrigation purpose. The programme was first initiated by Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar in his constituency - Dharmapuri for utilising Kaleshwaram water 100 per cent judicially. Deriving inspiration from the Minister, the same was inaugurated in Peddapalli district and repairing works of SRSP canals were taken up, he explained.

Putta Madhu informed that as part of Jalahitha programme, all the waste materials and dust that was accumulated in the canals will be removed and damages if any will also be repaired. This is to ensure water supply to all villages in all constituencies which should be utilised without wasting and to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the last ayucut in the coming rainy season, he added.

District Libraries department Chairman Raghuveer Singh, District Rural Development Officer Vinod Kumar and District Panchayat Officer Sudarshan were present along with others.
