People caught unawares as rains lash Khammam, Kothagudem

Khammam: With monsoon making its way into Telangana, a few places in erstwhile Khammam received light to moderate rainfall on Thursday.

The weather at district headquarters of Khammam and Kothagudem remained cloudy and there has been a brief spell on the day at both the places. In Bhadrachalam, low lying areas were inundated and drains overflowed following a moderate rainfall for about half-an-hour.

The premises of Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam were waterlogged causing inconvenience to devotees. Burgampahad, Yellandu, Tekulapalli, Karakagudem, Cherla and Bhadrachalam mandal in Kothagudem, Kamepalli and other mandals in Khammam district witnessed rainfall.

Meanwhile, six cattle died at Regulla village in Karakagudem mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district when struck by lightning. Electronic gadgets were damaged at many houses at Morampalli Banjara following a lightning strike.
