People cutting across religions celebrate Yoga Day in Nalgonda
Nalgonda: The International Yoga Day was celebrated in Nalgonda on Friday. A special programme was organised by the department of Ayush, Nalgonda Yoga Samithi and Swabiman Trust at the market yard in Nalgonda town.
District Collector Gaurav Uppal along with local MLA K Bhupal Reddy participated as chief guests to the programme.
Addressing the gathering after lighting a lamp, he called upon people to practice Yoga for physical fitness and mental balance.
"People in olden days used to lead a healthy life by following healthy practices. Today, people were facing more stress due to heavy competition and globalisation. Many people are falling victims for deceases like diabetes, arthritis etc because of change in lifestyle. Regular practice of Yoga will help people overcome the stress," the Collector added.
Meanwhile, people from all walks of life took part in the Yoga day celebrations and practiced Asanas. Muslim women too participated enthusiastically in Yoga day celebrations that attracted the attention of other attendees. The day was also celebrated in other parts of the district in a big way.
