Sangareddy: As RTC employees have gone on strike since October 5, the state government has made alternative arrangements to provide transportation to people during the Dasara festival.

However, the district has been witnessing increasing RTC bus accidents since the strike. Many feel that untrained drivers being used to run buses might be the cause of the accidents. With untrained, temporary drivers driving buses, people are feeling unsecure to travel in RTC buses.

Recently, a bus hit a bike on Hatnoor road, killing the rider on the spot. At the same spot, another bus hit an electric pole. On Thursday morning, a duty nurse of Sangareddy government hospital Shoba was hit by an RTC bus, immobilising her as hip joint was broken in the accident.

Apart from the accidents, deaths of RTC employees and their kin were reported across the state. Wife of an RTC employee Shekhar, a resident of Baba Nagar, died due to heart attack on hearing KCR's statement dismissing striking RTC employees.

Representatives of several people's association demanded that the state government own responsibility for accidents and deaths caused due to the RTC strike. Many people were heard demanding that the state government initiate measures to stop the strike at the earliest to prevent public inconvenience.
