People told to be aware of child rights: Anupama Chakravarthy
Manakondur: Everyone must strive hard for protecting the child rights, appealed District Principal Judge and the chairman of the District Legal Cell Authority, Anupama Chakravarthy here on Saturday.
An awareness programme on protection of child rights and implementation of child right Acts was organised under the aegis of District Legal Cell Authority at the Social Welfare Residential School of Devampalli village of Manakondur mandal in Karimnagar district.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Anupama Chakravarthy said that there are several Acts for the protection of child rights such as compulsory education for children under 14 years of age, prevention of child labour and child marriages etc.
Those who do not have proper knowledge of child rights are indulging in anti-social activities and forcing children to indulge in begging and deploying them at different place for work along with kidnapping them and involving in trafficking of children, she said.
The people must be aware of these laws for protecting the child rights and must educate others also. The students also must have knowledge of child rights. By leading a discipline life, the students must reach to higher goals they had set in their lives, she advised.
Secretary of the District Legal Cell Authority Madhavi Krishna, ACP Usha Rani, Karimnagar Bar Association president PV Raj Kumar, advocates T Pavan Kumar, Mahesh, K Laxman Kumar and school vice-principal Ashok Reddy and students were present on the occasion.
