Phase-II of ZPTC, MPTC polls peaceful in Warangal

Warangal: Polling for the second phase of Zilla parishad territorial constituencies (ZPTCs) and mandal parishad territorial constituencies (MPTCs) ended peacefully in erstwhile Warangal district on Friday. In all, polling for 26 ZPTC seats and 240 MPTC seats spread across 26 mandals in erstwhile Warangal district went on peacefully. There are 128 candidates in the fray for 26 ZPTCs and 841 for the 240 MPTCs.

The voter turnout in Warangal Urban district was 70.93 per cent. The mandal-wise break up: Dharmasagar 70.73 per cent, Velair 70.84 per cent, Inavole 71.22 per cent. On the other hand, Warangal Rural district registered 71.04 per cent voter turnout. The break up: Khanapur 72.85 per cent; Nallabelly 70.17 per cent; Parkal 74.28 per cent; Nadikuda 71.10 per cent; Shayampet 69.40 per cent; Raiparthy 70.74 per cent. The voter turnout in three mandals Eturnagaram, Tadvai and Kannaigudem of Mulugu district is 69.89 per cent. Eturnagaram 67.42 per cent; Tadvai 71.07 per cent; Kannaigudem 73.66 per cent.

Gandra Jyothy, wife of Bhupalpally MLA Venkata Ramana Reddy, Peddi Swapna, wife of Narsampet MLA Sudarshan Reddy and Gadipally Premalatha Reddy, former Jangaon municipal chairperson, are some of the prominent candidates in the fray for zilla parishad territorial constituencies (ZPTCs).
