Pink party faces turn red post-volte face by CM KCR
Hyderabad: The sudden change in the stance against the Centre by TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao has left party leaders and workers baffled as earlier, taking cue from the outburst of the party supremo, they had vociferously protested against the Farm Acts. They are in a state of confusion over the silence of the party on various issues against the Centre.
The TRS opposed the Farm Acts tabled by the Centre in Parliament and also participated in the Bharat Bandh call given by various farmers' organisations in the country. However, after the Delhi tour of the TRS chief who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders, there has been a studied silence in the party on going publicly against the Centre on any issue.
The party leaders are clueless as to the reason for the silence of the Chief Minister and are confused over what needs to be done in the future. The CM took many surprising decisions after returning from Delhi, viz., going back on LRS, announcing doles for employees such as promotions and PRC etc. But they are confounded on the absence of any moves against the BJP, which is aggressively taking on the government in the State and not leaving any chance to take a jibe at it.
"Until now we have opposed the Farm Acts and also took up strong protests, but now there is no clarity on how to go forward on the Acts. We were earlier against the Ayushman Bharat health scheme but now a green signal has been given to this scheme in the State," said a senior TRS leader on condition of anonymity. He further said the BJP leaders were targeting the government even after the change in the stance on irksome issues. The cadres are numbed by the developments and there is no direction from the party high command how to counter the saffron party moves in the State.
The leaders who were earlier mounting pressure on the BJP even on social media have now scaled down the attacks. They seem to be in the wait-and-watch mode till clarity emerges in the party stance against the BJP. Going by the latter's resolute offence against the pink party and its government, the party leaders and the cadres are restless that any dithering will only prove advantageous to the BJP which has set sights on the next general elections. Having suffered a defeat at the hands of BJP in Dubbaka and setback in GHMC elections, the party cannot afford to take any chances, feel the party machinery.
