Plea to implement EWS reservations

Musheerabad: OC Welfare Association (OCWA) president Kancham Sathyanarayana and Reddy Aikya Vedika president Enugu Santhosh Reddy warned the state government that it has to face ire of upper caste people if the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) reservation, which was recently passed by the central government, is not implemented with immediate effect.

They were speaking at a protest at Dharna Chowk on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sathyanarayana demanded the state government to establish separate corporations for Reddy and Vaishya communities, provide them legal validity and allocation of adequate funds to the corporations, as promised during the assembly elections.

Santhosh Reddy urged the state government not to delay the implementation of EWS reservations in the state.

He also appealed to the government to implement Dr Swaminathan's recommendation to declare minimum support prices for 14 different crops.

He also demanded for establishing a gurukul school in every district for upper caste poor students and provides free education from KG to PG.

Reddy urged the state government to take necessary steps to form a turmeric board at Nizamabad to resolve the issues faced by the turmeric farmers in the district.

Among those who were present on the occasion include general secretary of Reddy AikyaVedika S Tirupathi Reddy, vice president C Narsimha Reddy, J Venkat Reddy, R Ravinder Reddy, N Chandra Reddy, Sama Bal Reddy, Vijaypal Reddy, Ramkrishna Reddy and others.
