Police arrest MRPS activists in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The police arrested MRPS leaders from across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar and foiled their attempt to reach Hyderabad for Maha Deeksha at Indira Park Dharna Chowk on Sunday.

After a call to conduct Maha Deeksha in Hyderabad, the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) members taking a call from MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga tried to take out huge rallies and march towards Hyderabad. However, sensing trouble the police arrested MRPS activists from all the mandal headquarters.

The police maintained that permission to hold the dharna was denied and it was illegal to carry out any kind of rallies and marches towards Hyderabad for the dharna. In Pentalvelly mandal of Nagarkurnool district, the police arrested MRPS leaders and intercepted them from moving to Hyderabad for Mahadharna programme in support of the RTC employees strike.

Similar incidents of arrest of MRPS activists were observed in Kodangal, Wanaparthy, Mahbubnagar and Narayanpet districts of erstwhile Mahbubnagar on Sunday.
