Hyderabad: The Shadnagar police on Monday filed a petition in the local court seeking custody of the accused in Disha's rape and murder case.

They urged the court to sanction 10-day custody of the four accused to conduct in-depth investigation into the case.

In their petition, the police submitted to the court that they need more time to conduct a detailed inquiry in the case so that they can unearth more facts.

The police told the court that they could not inquire the accused after taking them into custody since thousands of angry people surrounded the police station.

Mild tension prevailed at the police station on the day of remand and due to which the police could not produce the accused before the court, they said.

The four accused were sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the executive magistrate. The police with full security shifted them to Cherlapally Central Prison by taking precautionary measures.

A decision on the custody petition will be taken on Tuesday since the Jadcherla Public Prosecutor, who is presently in-charge Public Prosecutor of Shadnagar Court, did not attend the court on Monday.

Meanwhile, the police have prepared a detailed questionnaire to quiz the accused in a systematic manner to elicit details with regard to the motive of the offence, their criminal background, details of victim's mobile phone, etc.

Later, the police will file the chargesheet so that the case can be transferred to a fast track court for speedy justice in the case.

On the other hand, tension prevailed at the court as advocates of the Bar Association staged a protest demanding death penalty for the four accused.

Already members of the Bar Association of Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar announced that they would not take up the case and denied any legal support to the accused.
