Polling goes off peacefully in district

Kothagudem: Polling went off peacefully in Maoist-dominated Kothagudem district on Thursday. The district comes under Khammam Lok Sabha constituency.

District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini inspected polling stations on the coal town. He visited polling stations in Chunchupaly and interacted with voters and inspected the arrangements there.

He also cast his vote at polling station number 166. Later, the Collector inspected the health camp organised close to a polling station.

Addressing the media persons along with SP he said that the election process in the district went off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported. The webcasting of polling at all the polling station was conducted, he informed.

All facilities were provided in all polling stations, he said, adding that special arrangements were made for convenience of the physically-challenged people and free transport facility was provided to them.

In every polling station, drinking water for the voters was made available. The team of electoral officers visited all polling stations and they found no issues in any polling station, said the Collector. He also informed that the polling was started at 7 am and concluded at 4 pm peacefully.
