Polling staff undergo training on EVMs

Vikarabad: The official machinery is focusing on procuring EVMs and testing their fitness apart from imparting necessary training to the staff on conducting the polls. Arrangements are being made to move EVMs to the polling stations. The number of candidates contesting in Chevella and Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituencies is more than 15. There are 23 candidates in Secunderabad and 23 in Chevella contesting. The polling stations in Secunderabad have already been arranged.

There are a total of 2,797 polling stations in Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, where 5,588 ballet units are needed. Moreover, an additional 10 percent of the ballot units will be installed. One ballot unit will be enough in Malkajigiri where 12 candidates are contesting and also for Hyderabad where 15 candidates in the fray.

Postal ballots are being prepared for those employees who are participating in the election duty. There are nearly 60,000 such employees spread over four parliamentary constituencies. Such people are likely to submit a postal vote in the constituency where they are working.

However, some employees working in another Lok Sabha constituency, have to cast their postal ballot instead of submitting their vote to the Returning Officer concerned.
