Pompous celebrations mark World Adivasi Day in Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam: The tribal unions and various other organisations celebrated the World Adivasi Day on a grand note here in the Bhadrachalam agency areas. On Friday, a special programme was organised here at the headquarters of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Bhadrachalam.

ITDA Project Officer VP Goutham attended the programme and garlanded the statue of tribal leaders Komaram Bheem, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Gantam Dora and Mallu Dora at the Ambedkar centre.

Speaking on the occasion, the Project Officer wished the tribals on the special day and added that the State government has introduced several welfare schemes for the uplift of tribals. He appealed to the tribals to make use of the facilities and schemes and also urged them to protect their unique traditions. Before the start of the programme, a big procession was taken out by the tribals where they danced to the traditional music. The Project Officer also shook a leg with the tribal dancers.

District Tribal Development Officer Zahiruddin, Assistant Project Officer (Admin) Naga Rao, Executive Engineer Koti Reddy, Manager Surender, Girijana Corporation Divisional Manager K Vani, Tribal leader and former MLA Kunja Satyavathi, M Ramesh, Dharma, P Krishna, Jayababu, K Pullaiah and others attended the programme.

Meanwhile, similar processions were also taken out by the tribals in Yellandu, Manuguru, Aswapuram and Kothagudem mandals.
