Post-mortem of slain Naxal held
Kothagudem: Post-mortem was conducted on Thursday on the body of Naxalite Linganna, who was killed in alleged police encounter on Wednesday. A large number of police personnel were deployed to ensure peace. Linganna, the leader of the CPI (ML) New Democracy, was killed in the alleged police encounter.
On the orders of the High Court, re-post-mortem was conducted on the body amid heavy police presence. The court directed the State government to order re-post-mortem. The government was also directed to submit the post-mortem report in a sealed counter to the court.
The CPI (M-L) New Democracy leaders and rights activists filed a petition in the High Court. Meanwhile, tension built up when the police prevented the New Democracy leaders from going to Kothagudem to where post-mortem on the body of Linganna was conducted.
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC were imposed in Gundala mandal and New Democracy leaders S Venkateswar Rao, Mukthar Pasha, D V Krishna, Ramakka, S L Padma and V Padma were among those who were taken into police custody.
Former MLAs Gummadi Narsaiah and K Samvasiva Rao, left-wing leaders P Ranga Rao, Sabir Pasha and others visited the government hospital to pay homage to the killed Naxal.
