Prevent diarrhoea with Rotavirus vaccine: DM&HO Dr Kumra Balu

Asifabad: Stating that more children below the age group of two years are coming to the hospitals with diarrhoea due to Rotavirus, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Kumra Balu said 'Prevention is better than cure'.

Speaking at Rotavirus vaccine training programme to ANMs and supervisors at DM&HO office in Asifabad on Thursday, Dr Balu told the staff to take measures to prevent diarrhoea by administering Rota Virus vaccine, which will work effectively for kids. He wanted the staff to create awareness among the patients on cleanliness and to ask the patients to wash their hands frequently, to prevent the disease.

Rotavirus vaccine has been using by the people in 96 countries across the world, which is giving good results. Mothers can breastfeed their children before or after the vaccine is given.

Later the DMHO released wallposters and created awareness on PC PNDT Act, Sex Determination Law 1994. Warning the scanning centres that they will be punished if they do sex determination test, the DMHO said that every scanning centre should register their machinery in the Medical and Health department with the details of company name, model serial number. Else their scanning centre will be seized, he warned.

Deputy DMHO Dr Sudhakar Naik, Dr Subbaraidu, PO Dr Sitaram, DIO Vijayalaxmi, Subrahmanyam, Venkateshwarlu, Bheemanna, Rasheed and others were present.
