Private hospitals fleecing patients: All India Youth Federation
Karimnagar: The district president of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF), B Ugendar on Friday alleged that the management of the private and corporate hospitals are looting the innocent patients by prescribing costly medicines even for mild fevers.
The members of the Federation burnt an effigy of the management of the private and corporate hospitals, for collecting exorbitant fees from the patients, here at Babu Jagjivan Ram Chowrastha in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Ugendar alleged that the patients belonging to poor and middle class families are selling their properties because of high fees collected by the management of the private and corporate hospitals.
The AIYF leader accused the managements of the private hospitals of providing medical services with the doctors, who have completed either BAMS or BHMS.
As per the guidelines issued by the Medical Council of India, the treatment can be provided to the patients without conducting all the tests. But the private and corporate hospitals are not following such guidelines, he pointed out.
By appointing RMPs and PMPs as their PROs and joining hands with Pharma companies, the hospitals are looting the patients by prescribing unnecessary medical tests, he slammed. If the management of the private and corporate hospitals do not mend their ways, he warned of staging protests in front of their hospitals.
The AIYF members K Naresh, B Avinash, Bhaskar, Tirupathi, Narendra, Raju, Srinivas and others were present.
