Prof teaches students the art of writing news

Kakatiya Government College faculty felicitates Assistant Professor of English Dr E Ram Bhaskar Raju during a session on ‘The Art of Writing News’ in Hanamkonda on Friday

Hanamkonda: The Career Guidance & Placement Cell, which is conducting a certificate course in Journalism, on Friday organised a session on 'The Art of Writing News' under the aegis of the Department of Political Science of the Kakatiya Government College.

Assistant Professor of English, columnist and the College IQAC director Dr E Ram Bhaskar Raju, spoke on the art of writing news exemplifying all niceties about the language. He spoke at length on the components of the essential ingredients required for the English and vernacular journalists.

"It is not enough to gather news. It needs to be put in right perspective. Use of words should be appropriate. The news must be crisp so that the readers go through quickly, avoiding boredom. Every word must be understood by the ordinary reader and care should be taken to avoid ambiguity. This apart, every story should have news peg," Bhaskar Raju said.

Quoting some reports published in The Hans India, he spoke about the creative headlines and the stories close to the heart of ordinary people. The session was organised by Assistant Professor of Political Science S Kamalakar and it was presided over by Assistant Professor A Madhusudan Reddy. College principal Dr P Venkateshwarlu was among other faculty and students present.
