Professor Vamkudoth Ravinder turns Bike Mechanic amid Covid-19 Lockdown

An assistant professor from Madhira in Khammam district turned as bike mechanic to earn his livelihood after he lost his job due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown.

Vamkudoth Ravinder, a resident of Banjara Colony who was working as an assistant professor in Hyderabad lost his job. He and his wife, Bulli were post-graduate engineers and the couple have two daughters aged seven and four.

Ravinder was forced to quit the job after the college management announced that they are unable to pay salaries to the employees. He later approached many colleges but the situation was the same at all places. No one has offered a job during these difficult times, he said.

Unable to survive in Hyderabad, he left Hyderabad and went to his parents' home in Madhira. Ravinder failed to find a job and started working as a mechanic. As he was a mechanical engineer, he tried to find a job in a small bike repair workshop and is now earning Rs 200 per day.

His wife also tried to find a job and could not succeed. Ravinder said that he had dreamed of being a professor and the lockdown turned his life upside down.
