Promoting Menstrual Hygiene NGO Addresses Key Issues Of Girl Students At Isnapur Govt School
Isnapur: A 3kv solar power system, sanitary napkins vending machine and an incinerator were inaugurated at the ZP High School here on Thursday.
A social activist from Germany, Eva Fellner, launched the facilities provided by the NGO, Rural Organization for Society empowerment (ROSE). "Our organisation is concerned about the environment sustainability. Hence we are promoting solar energy. ROSE felt that the school should not go without power for smooth conduct of the classes. That's why we provided a solar system with backup power, spending about Rs 2 lakhs for 3 Kv unit," said YV Rao, the vice-president of ROSE.
In order to address issues like absenteeism and to promote health and hygiene among girl students, the organisation arranged a sanitary napkin vending machine along with an incinerator in the school to dispose them off without spoiling the environment. If this initiative succeeds, the organisation is willing to extend this facility to other schools so that better health to the girls and the environment protection is ensured.
As part of plastic free campaign, the ZPH Schools produces the cloth bags. These bags were presented to Eva Fellner who promotes UNO Sustainable Development Goals. She promised to take them to her country for distribution.
