Rajanna Siricilla: V Hanumanth Rao arrested for arranging bus for migrant workers
Rajanna Siricilla: Senior Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao along with other leaders staged dharna in protest against the police officials for arresting them when there were trying to shift migrant workers to their native places here in Rajanna Siricilla district.
The migrant workers who started to their native places by walk from Mustabad got struck at Kargil lake in the headquarters of Rajanna Siricilla district. Learning about it, the local Congress party leaders came forward for shifting them to their native places under the leadership of senior Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao.
A special bus was arranged for shift as many as 86 migrant workers who were struck in the district headquarters by the former MP V Hanumanth Rao along with distributing daily commodities to them on Friday night.
Having learnt that Congress party leaders are shifting the migrant workers by bus, RDO Srinivas Rao along with DSP Chandrashekar, Circle Inspector Venkatanarasaiah and other revenue officials reached the spot and stopped the Congress party leaders.
The officials informed the Congress party leaders that the State government is making all kinds of arrangements for sending the migrant workers to their native places and will be sent once the process is completed between the two states.
A heated argument took place between the officials and Congress party leaders and the police officials prevented the Congress leaders from shifting the migrant workers to their natives place. Expressing his displeasure, V Hanumanth Rao staged a sit in on Siricilla-Kamareddy highway.
Speaking to the media persons, V Hanumatha Rao alleged that the governement is behaving negligently in sending the migrant workers to their native places.
The police arrested the Congress party senior leader V Hanumanth Rao, district president Nagula Satyanarayana, town president Sangeetham Srinivas and SC Cell district president Bala Raju.
Meanwhile, some of the migrant workers who came from Orissa state to works in Mustabad were got struck due to the lock down orders. They started to go to they native place by walk and reached to Peddur two days back.
The local leaders gave them shelter for two days. As the do not have any permission to go to their native places they did phone call to IT Minister and urged him to help them.
Responding to the phone call done by the migrant workers, IT Minister K T Rama Rao ordered the district collector to send them to their native places by arranging special buses.
Receiving the orders, the district administration made arrangement of special vehicles and sent the migrant workers to their native places.
