Congress leaders garlanding the portrait of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 75th birth anniversary at Indiramma Colony near Bangalpet on Tuesday

Nirmal: Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's 75th birth anniversary was celebrated on a grand note here in Nirmal on Tuesday. Congress Nirmal town president Ayyannagari Poshetty garlanded the portrait of former PM Rajiv Gandhis and paid rich tributes at Indiramma Colony near Bangalpet in Nirmal. Speaking on the occasion, Poshetty said Rajiv Gandhi gave the right to vote at 18 years of age and by introducing Information and Technology, he revolutionised the country.

Pointing out that former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy had launched Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme in memory of former PM Rajiv Gandhi, he criticised the TRS government for removing Rajiv Gandhi's name from the scheme title. But the TRS government had failed to Aarogyasri bills to private hospitals, which forced the latter to stop providing the services. He also remembered that the Congress government during its tenure provided uninterrupted medical services to the poor.

PCC secretary A Ramalingam, State Sevadal Additional Chief Embati Rajeshwar, SC Cell State secretary Sidda Mutyam, Youth Congress constituency president N Chinnu, Youth Congress town president Syed Arshad, town vice-president Shiva Kumar, Mahesh Bhupathi, Sai Santosh, Charan Mourya and others were present.
