Ramagundam : Pledge to 'Beat Air Pollution'

Ramagundam: NTPC-Ramagundam celebrated World Environment Day on Wednesday with the pledge to 'Beat Air Pollution', the theme for this year's World Environment Day.

In the early morning, a Green Walkathon led by ED-Ramagundam/Telangana Dr PP Kulkarni was carried out in the township wherein GMs, HODs, employees, CISF officials, office bearers of ladies club, unions and associations and NCC cadets participated in large number to spread the message of combating air pollution and make the environment greener and healthier.

Befitting the occasion, mass tree plantation drive was carried out near D-6 Block of the township wherein employees and their family members participated enthusiastically to plant sapling to enrich the environment.

Later, all the participants took pledge to beat air pollution. To mark the occasion, distribution of jute bags was started, which will subsequently cover all the employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kulkarni highlighted NTPC-Ramagundam's efforts to beat air pollution through adoption of New Super Critical Technology in Telangana Project, Initiation of FGD, R&M of units, achieving above 100 percent ash utilisation, mass tree plantation, paperless work environment, e-Vehicle, e-Cycle, etc.

This year, in association with the local administration, NTPC-Ramagundam will contribute in a big way in Haritha Haram, he added.

During this occasion Mathew Varghese, CGM (O&M), NTPC-Ramagundam; Prem Prakash, CGM (Project), NTPC-Telangana; B Srinivas, Commissioner, Ramagundam Municipal Corporation; Gurjeet Singh, Commandant, CISF; K Ravidas, Environmental Engineer, TSPCB, Ramagundam Regional Office and others spoke on different aspects of air pollutions.

During the Environment month-long celebrations, different competitions like Essay, Drawing, Best out of Waste, etc are planned for employees and their family members and school children of township and nearby villages to create awareness.
