Ramagundam: A unique programme, launched by Ramagundam Traffic police as part of Traffic Friendly Policing, has been receiving huge response from the people. It is to be noted that one week ago, Ramagundam traffic police started a unique programme to prevent road accidents and save the lives of vehicle drivers under the supervision of Assistant Commission of Police (Traffic) YV Rao and Traffic Inspector G Ramesh Babu.
The Traffic police asked two-wheeler owners to purchase ISI marked helmets and those, who do not have documents like insurance and pollution certificates, had issued the documents on the spot. The authorities concerned were involved in the new initiative and Motor Vehicle Inspector Ranga Rao had issued driving licenses to the vehicle owners, who don't have them. Speaking on the occasion, Traffic Inspector G Ramesh Babu said that due to irresponsibility, rash driving and drunk driving leading to road accidents and many people are losing their lives. "This new initiative has been taken up to prevent road accidents and make the people realize that the traffic police are meant for their safety but not for just issuing challans" he stated.
People while driving vehicles must follow traffic rules strictly along with following certain road safety measures. When they follow the rules properly, they can reach their homes safe and can live happily with their family members, he added. Ramesh Babu said that in view of good response from the public, DCP Sudarashan Goud has extended the programme for one more week.
