CP VC Sajjanar distributes eco-friendly Seed Ganesha

Ranga Reddy: Cyberabad Commissioner Of Police VC Sajjanar accepted eco-friendly Seed Ganesha challenge initiated by Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar.

On Wednesday Cyberabad CP distributed the eco-friendly seed Ganesha idols to the DCPs, ADCPs and other officers at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate.

Cyberabad CP VC Sajjanar said that to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in a way that protects the environment and increases green cover in the State, the Telangana government has decided to distribute 'Seed Ganesha' across the State. Eco-friendly Ganesha idols have just taken a leap ahead. Earlier, they were made with mere clay and natural colours, they now come with neem seeds embedded inside. The idea is the brainchild of Santhosh Kumar and it is made with eco-friendly clay mixed with neem seeds, he added.

TRS MP Santosh Kumar, who initiated the programme had already taken up the Green India Challenge programme a couple of years ago to plant three crore plants in the State. He hoped that the eco-friendly seed Ganesha would spread not just in Telangana, but across the country.

As the Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao preferred medicinal plants, neem seeds are being inserted in the Ganesha idol, the CP said.

These idols would be prepared and distributed in the State in association with an NGO named Go Rural India. "People can celebrate Ganesh festival at their homes in the current pandemic situation," he said.

CP further said that in the coming days, individuals and NGOs can also participate in making environmentally friendly idols on a large scale.
