Ranga Reddy: ODF tag for municipalities, municipal corporations on Independence Day

Ranga Reddy: As many as 15 municipalities and municipal corporations across the district are all set to get the "open defecation free" (ODF) tag on August 15 as part of Swachch Bharat programme. The construction of 100 per cent toilets will be achieved in these places.

Construction works of the public toilets have caught a fast pace in 12 municipalities and three municipal corporations across the district in Telangana State.

Following the orders of State IT and Municipal Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, all the works of ODF are being inspected under the leadership of district collector, keeping the population in count and having one public toilet per 1,000 people. Thus, a total of 562 public toilets are being constructed across the district.

The State government has issued orders to construct 380 newly sanctioned public toilets by August 15 so that public will not face problems after this. Following the orders, the State Municipal Secretary Aravind has been inspecting the construction works regularly. Out of all, 50 per cent of toilets will be constructed for women.

A total of 562 public toilets were sanctioned recently. Out of which 380 toilets are set to be ready till the Independence Day. As many as 160 toilets already existed in the district.

RR district collector Amoi Kumar and Additional Collector Pratik have also been inspecting the construction works.
