Hyderabad: Following the outburst of public anger and anguish over the brutal rape and murder of veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed the officials to take necessary measures to see that a fast track court was set up to ensure speedy justice in the case.

Addressing RTC workers at Pragati Bhavan here on Sunday, KCR said some animals in human form were still living amidst us. Expressing his deep anguish over the incident, he said it was an inhuman act and the perpetrators should get stern punishment. It should act as a deterrent so that no such incident again takes place, he added.

KCR observed that the fast track court set up to address the minor girl murder case in Warangal helped deliver judgment within two months.

The CM felt that in Priyanka case too, the verdict should come quickly. He also announced that the government would extend all necessary help and support to the bereaved family.

On the other hand, Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister KT Rama Rao asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend the existing IPC and CrPC Acts to curb growing number of assaults on women in the country.

In a series of tweets, KTR appealed to the Prime Minister to debate the issue in the ongoing winter session of Parliament and amend the Acts. He advocated capital punishment against the people who indulge in rape and atrocities against women and children.

The minister recalled that even after seven years of Nirbhaya's ghastly rape and murder, the convicts were still not hanged. "A nine-month child was raped recently, a lower court ordered capital punishment.

The High Court revised it to life imprisonment! A young veterinarian is murdered in Hyderabad… and the perpetrators have been nabbed.

But I wonder how we can offer solace to the grieving family seeking justice."

On the other hand, BJP chief spokesperson K Krishna Saagar Rao criticised KTR for trying to change the goalpost instead of owning up the responsibility and being accountable for the criminal negligence in dealing with this case.
