Real Liberation Day for Telangana is June 2, 2014, not Sept 17: KCR

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the real Liberation Day for Telangana was on June 2, 2014 and not on September 17.

The Chief Minister was replying to a discussion on Budget in the Assembly on Sunday and said that the demand for celebration of Liberation Day was correct, but the political parties should know whether there is relevance for such demand.

"We are consistently hoisting national flag at Telangana Bhavan on September 17. You can also celebrate who have stopped you. Take up rally if you want, we will give permission also. It was a process as the region was transformed from autocracy to democracy," said KCR.

The TRS chief further said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel gave the Nizam the honour of 'Raj Pramukh'. During the year 1948 many innocents were killed. "Even Naini Narasimha Reddy's father was killed by a constable.

There was a cruel rule for two years. There was a mixed experience. Telangana society had undergone trauma. Few say it as Liberation, and some say merger. ``As the leader of Telangana agitation, I also demanded the government to celebrate.

The intellectuals have told us that the old wounds would get fresh again with the celebrations. It is not a great issue. Telangana got real Liberation on June 2, 2014," said KCR adding there was peaceful atmosphere in Telangana without any religious clashes.

The Chief Minister mocked BJP MLA Raja Singh for being absent from the House. KCR further said, "The BJP also is making noises. They have only one MLA and he is also not present in the House.

Don't know where he has gone. They are making noise that miracle is going to happen in 2023." He asked the Congress and BJP leaders to tell whether any of their party ruled states have 24-hour free power to the farmers.
