Regularise contract staff: R Krishnaiah

Musheerabad: National BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah demanded that the State government regularise the services of the contract and outsourcing employees and guest teachers working in various Gurukul schools and hostels and different corporations and pay them full scale as per the court orders.

He was speaking at a meeting of guest teachers and contract employees working in Gurukuls here at BC Bhavan on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided by the president of Telangana degree lecturers' forum Ch Kishore Kumar.

Krishnaiah said that there were about 2 lakh temporary employees who were working for years in various corporations, schools and hostels and demanded that the State government make their jobs permanent.

Krishnaiah said that guest lecturers working in 132 degree colleges in the State have been waiting for their salaries since last eight months.

Some employees have been working for 10 to 20 years but their services have not been regularised, he said.

The BC leader said the court has ordered to pay the salaries on a par with regular employees, but the order has not been implemented so far.

He said that the neighbouring state Karnataka has regularised services of its 1.7 lakh temporary employees and even the states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan have taken measures to regularise their temporary employees.

The states have not encountered any legal problems during the process and even Supreme Court supported their decision, he said.

He demanded that the State government pass a bill in this regard and make the temporary employees permanent.

President of Telangana degree lecturers' forum Ch Kishore Kumar, Gujja Krishna, E Sathyanarayana, Dhanalakshmi, Sridevi, Deepa, Vani, P Nageshwar Rao, Buchaiah, Mohammad Rahim, Secunder, C Rajender, J Anji, Gajender, Narsimha Naik, Hussains Bee and others spoke on the occasion.
