Kalapather: Several areas in the old city are plagued by civic issues every day, be it a bumpy road or a leakage of drainage water. Now, there is a massive leakage from drain pipes near Khizra Hotel Ramnasthpura in Kalapather. Local residents are complaining that these problems remained unattended despite lodging several complaints with the officials for the last 10 days.

The roads are severely affected over the overflow of drainage water and it is causing inconvenience to the residents and commuters. Several representations were made to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, and the residents are very angry as the officials remained indifference. Regular commuters, who pass through this area, are suffering due to the stench emitted at the Khizra Hotel Lane.

The residents said that it was really disappointing for them that for the last 10 years, the drain leakage in area is a common problem in the area. "While two weeks in a month, the road will be filled up with drain water, we have been complaining to the officials about the issue but there is no response from them, there should be no further delay and authorities need to check the condition of drainage pipes and clean regularly or fix it permanently," said Mohammed Imaduddin Patel, Vice-Chairman, Ramnathpura division, under Bahadurpura constituency, TPCC while speaking to The Hans India here on Monday.

Patel also said, "The drainage water issue has been pending for the last 10 days, I have been complaining to the officials regularly, but they have not turned up. Many times, after complaining to the GHMC, they cleaned the drainage and after two or three days, it started leaking again. They should find a permanent solution for this. Along with the drainage water, the wastage is also coming from a manhole and the total road is damaged due to this which is causing inconvenience to commuters," he added.

Mohammed Imran, a resident said, "We are now frustrated with the drain water leakage and water logging in front of our houses, which are causing lots of inconvenience here. The continuous foul smell emitted from the drain water is nauseating and may result in the outbreak of several diseases. "
