Tarnaka: Residents of Manikeshwarnagar on Tuesday took out a protest rally demanding a hospital, a park and sports ground in the locality. They marched from local 'kamaan' holding placards and raising slogans in the rally. The protestors also squatted on the road. Some participants told The Hans India that the Osmania University officials were 'obstructing development works' in Manikeshwarnagar. They said maps and documents pertaining to lands have been secured from the tahsildar's office and taken to the notice of Minister Etala Rajender and Deputy Speaker T Padma Rao Goud.

Local corporator Alakunta Saraswati, who led the protest, demanded allotment of land from the kamaan to Mekastar Auditorium on OU campus to Manikeshwarnagar for taking up development works.

Local residents asserted that development works would be taken up come what may. They alleged that the officials were resorting to vengeful action by stalling the setting up of a petrol bunk in the area. The protestors demanded withdrawal of 'ilIegal' cases filed against Saraswati by the OU police.

Among the participants in the rally were TRS Greater Hyderabad youth wing president Alakunta Hari.
