Hyderabad: Congress MP from Malkajgiri A Revanth Reddy on Thursday urged Union Railway Minister Piyush Goel to address the issues being faced by the State with regard to Railways.

In a letter written to the Union Minister, the MP said that the railways should take steps to set up Vande Bharath Coach Production Unit in Kazipet. He said that as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 it was agreed to establish a Railway Coach Factory in the successor of State of Telangana. So far, the railways have not initiated any work in that direction.

Revanth said that there was no coach production unit in Telangana till now, although it was initially planned at Kazipet in 1980s. The planned factory has been shifted to Punjab (Kaparthula) to suppress the terrorist movements in Punjab at that time.

He said that there was a proposal for a green field railway line between Krishna and Vikarabad via Kodangal. The State government also had agreed to give matching grant. If this green field railway line is laid, people of this area will immensely be benefitted.

The MP mentioned that railway stations of Alwal, Malkajgiri and Bolarum are in bad shape without any infrastructure facilities. They are encroached by vegetable vendors and it is becoming very difficult for passengers to move freely.

Proper fencing on all sides is to be erected immediately after encroachments are removed so that the stations are protected from all sides which would also prevent entry of stray animals, he urged. He stressed on the need for modernization of all stations.

He requested the Union Minister to extend MMTS from Umdanagar Railway Station to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. He also sought extension of MMTS service from Secunderabad to Malkajgiri.

Revanth wanted a high-speed railway line between two capital cities of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh i.e., Hyderabad (Kacheguda)–Amaravathi (Vijayawada) along the NH-65.
