Row over leasing out society land to private firm in Warangal

Warangal: The alumni members of Mahabubia High School have on Monday met Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil during the Prajavani, a public grievance programme, and urged him to look into the irregularities by the administrative body of the Mahabubia Education Society.

According to the alumni members, administrative body of the Mahabubia Education Society gave away a piece of land on 30 years lease to a private firm for setting up a petrol bunk under Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). It may be mentioned here that the said land is under Vivekananda Junior College run by the Mahabubia Education Society. The alumnus said that the society has no right to lease out the land as it was against the bylaws of the society. They urged the Collector to dismiss the administrative committee and appoint a special officer to look after the affairs of the society.

They also urged the Collector to order a probe into the matter and take appropriate action against those who were involved in the illegal agreement including the HPCL. Responding to the alumni's petition, the Collector directed the district education officer (DEO) to conduct an inquiry, besides seeking an explanation from the HPCL. The alumni members, who met the Collector, were Kothapally Krishnamurthy, Gunti Susheel Kumar, Dr Pola Nataraj, K Venkatagiri, S Gurnadham and others.
