Rs 737 crore invested for Vemulawada development: MLA Chennamaneni
Vemulawada: Several development works took place with an investment of Rs 737 crore in Vemulawada constituency in 2020, said TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu. On Wednesday, he released a statement with the details of various developmental works that took place in the constituency and the measures took to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the region.
Since the formation of Telangana State, several developmental works like drinking and irrigation water supply, construction of bridges, laying of roads, development of area hospital including Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple were taken up along with implementation of several welfare schemes successfully in Vemulawada constituency, he added.
The MLA informed of taking initiation for a new lift irrigation project at Mid Manair Reservoir at investment of Rs 14 crore for supplying drinking water to lakhs of devotees, who visit Rajanna temple and to more than 40,000 residents of the town. Rs 142.06 crore were distributed under Rythu Bandhu scheme, Rs 1.45 crore were distributed under Rythu Bima and Rs 5.94 crore was expended for the construction of Rythu Vedikas. Under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, Rs.29.1 crore was distributed to the beneficiaries, he added.
Gudi Cheruvu became a major source of drinking water for the people of this region after it was filled with Godavari waters. Rehabilitation packages worth Rs 30 crore were distributed to farmers, who lost their fields under Gudi Cheruvu, he added. IT Minister KT Rama Rao had sanctioned Rs 40 crore for resolving the issues of oustees of affected villages under MMD.
During Covid-19 pandemic, along with taking preventive measures in the constituency, 12 kg rice was distributed to about 85,000 families from March to April with an investment of Rs 13 crore and conducted corona tests to about 25,967 persons at a cost of Rs 2.56 crore. Rs 139.71 crore was distributed under Aasara pension scheme; Rs.68 crore distributed for village panchayats' development; Rs 102.5 crore was invested for construction of check dams and roads; Rs 42 crore for various developmental works in Vemulawada town; Rs 85.26 crore loans sanctioned to Self-Help Groups; Rs 15.9 crore was invested for education sector in the constituency; and Rs 5.51 crore was invested for other developmental activities, he explained.
MLA Ramesh Babu reminded that along with Finance Minister T Harish Rao, he strove hard for solving the issues of oustees and played a key role in the completion of Yellampalli project for supplying irrigation water to about 55,000 acres in Vemulawada, Chandurthi and Rudrangi mandals and converted the barren land into fertile.
He alleged that without having complete awareness about the development, which took place in the constituency, Opposition parties' leaders are making baseless comments against him and are trying to divert the attention of the people.
