RTA officials seize 9 autos, 1 Toofan for overloading in Jadcherla

Jadcherla: The Road Transport authorities (RTA) have cracked a whip on the auto-rickshaws and various private transport vehicles ferrying passengers more than permitted and seized nine autos besides one Toofan vehicle on Thursday in Jadcherla mandal of Mahbubnagar. It can be recalled that recently an overloaded auto-rickshaw at Midjil was knocked down by a speeding lorry leaving 12 persons dead and three severely injured. Keeping this in view, the RTA authorities in Mahbubnagar have decided to conduct checking of vehicles at various junctions in Jadcherla.

Speaking on the occasion, an RTA official said that from now onwards they have decided to conduct regular vehicle checks and keep a tab on those vehicles violating the road safety norms. "Today we have seized nine autos and one Toofan for overloading passengers than permitted. We have booked cases against the vehicle drivers," said the RTA authorities.
