RTC employees stage a silent protest in Hanamkonda

Hanamkonda: Continuing their protest on 25th day, the TSRTC employees staged a silent protest at Ambedkar Centre here on Tuesday.

A large number of employees supported by the Opposition parties and various organisations have participated in the protest by covering their eyes with black ribbons.

The protestors, who placed a memorandum at the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar, resorted to Swachh Bharat by cleaning the surrounding of the Ambedkar statue.

Speaking to the media, Warangal Region TSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) Secretary ES Babu criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not responding to their justifiable demands even after 25 days of their strike.

Even the JAC s ready for talks, the CM is unwilling to resolve the issue amicably. KCR, who says that the 48,000 RTC workers' strike as illegal, is not ready to negotiate to resolve the issue, he added.

The employees, who honestly worked all these years, were hurt with the government's adamant approach. The government, which hired temporary drivers and conductors, may be able to operate a few buses but it's risking the lives of passengers, Babu said. "The JAC leaders and employees is ready to explain what was happening in the RTC at the public meeting to be held at Saroornagar on October 30. A large number of employees have already headed to Hyderabad to attend the public meeting," he said.

It may be mentioned here that workers unions of the TSRTC began their indefinite strike on October 5 demanding merger of RTC with the government, revision of pay and recruitment to various posts, among others. Since then, the striking employees have been organising protests in support of their demands. The Opposition parties and others have also joined the protests.
