RTC MD behaving like a politician: CPI

Hanamkonda (Warangal-U): The TSRTC in-charge Managing Director Sunil Sharma has been behaving like a politician, Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said. Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, he came down heavily on Sunil Sharma for rejecting the RTC employees from joining from the duties.

"The way Sunil Sharma was talking is objectionable. Instead of a well-versed IAS officer, he was just reflecting the views of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The RTC MD must understand the labour laws," Reddy said, stating that RTC workers were within their right in going on strike.

Even though 29 RTC workers had died during the strike period, the Cief Minister has little concern towards the employees. The government has blithe concern towards the directions of High Court, he said. Reddy alleged that the government was bulldozing the democratic rights of employees.

"Time has come for the intellectuals, political parties and various people fora to stand united to oppose the autocratic policies of the TRS government," Reddy said, referring to the RTC authorities' unilateral approach in denying the employees from joining the duties on Tuesday. He found fault with the Ministers, legislators and other people's representatives for maintaining stoic silence even though the RTC workers were in dire straits.

He also found fault with the Central government for not pursuing the State to end the strike amicably. Senior leaders T Srinivas Rao, B Ravinder, former MLA Potharaju Saraiah and CPI Warangal Urban district secretary Mekala Ravi were among others present.
