RTC staff shift protests to MLAs, Minister's camp offices in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: The RTC employees strike, which entered 38th day on Monday, saw large scale protests across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district as the striking workers took out huge rallies and tried to lay siege to the residences of local TRS MLAs in their respective constituencies.

The RTC employees, as per the call was given by the RTC union leaders, took out rallies holding placards and raising slogans against the State government's adamant attitude towards the agitating workers.

In Gadwal district, the RTC employees took out a rally from the RTC depot to the residence of Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy and later, gave a representation to the MLA urging his intervention in solving the issues of RTC employees. To this, the MLA responded in a positive manner and said that he would do his best to convince Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, urging him to consider the request of RTC employees and ensure that they get justice.

"I wish this problem of RTC is resolved once and for all. Both the RTC employees and the government officials must sit and discuss and arrive at an amicable solution. I think if not now, later also this problem would be resolved only through talks and I shall do my best to convince the Chief Minister in this regard and would urge him to save the RTC and its thousands of employees. However, the RTC employees should leave their tough stand and should go a little easy with their demands," observed the MLA.

In Mahbubnagar, the RTC employees tried to lay siege to the camp office of Excise Minister Srinivas Goud and demanded his intervention in the RTC issue. However, as the MLA was not present, the police set up a strong bundobust and did not allow the striking employees into the Minister's camp office. With this, the RTC employees sat in front of the gate of the MLA camp office and staged a protest.

Similar protests were also seen in Wanaparthy, Kalwakurthy, Achampet, and Narayanpet constituencies were in the RTC employees tried to lay siege to the residences and camp offices of TRS MLAs. However, their efforts were foiled by the police. Meanwhile, in one or two cases, a tussle broke out between the striking employees and the police. However, none was injured.
