Hyderabad: According to an RTI response from the Deputy Educational Officer, the Delhi Public School at Mahendra Hills in East Marredpally has not been affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school is said to be falsely claiming that it is CBSE-affiliated and charging fees for the same.

The RTI response stated that the school located behind Tukaramgate Police station, East Maredpally, is recognised by the Government of Telangana for classes Nursery to VIII E/M and is not affiliated by CBSE Board.

The RTI was filed by an anti-corruption activist, Vijay Gopal, who posed a set of questions on whether a couple of schools were affiliated to CBSE or not.

He also sought details of classes for CBSE recognition has been obtained, whether schools were run on second and fourth Saturdays, and if they were making it mandatory for parents to buy uniform, stationary items, books from their stores.

Most of the queries in the RTI were left unanswered, stating that information is not available with the DEO.

Vijay Gopal, the president of Forum Against Corruption (FAC), said, "It is shocking that the DEO office gives this in reply, but the school continues to operate. Mr Janardhan Reddy, Principal Secretary of Edu. Dept., Telangana state, must answer for this. How can schools play with the emotions of parents and lie to them and also continue taking admissions?"
