Sabitha achieves a rare feat
Hyderabad: Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy, who was sworn in as Cabinet Minister and allotted Education portfolio, has a rare feat to her credit.
K Chandrashekar Rao is the fourth Chief Minister under whom Sabitha Indra Reddy will be discharging duties as a Minister.
She was a Cabinet Minister (2004-13) when Y S Rajashekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah and N Kiran Kumar Reddy were the Chief Ministers in the combined Andhra Pradesh State.
Sabitha Indra Reddy, who switched to TRS from the Congress a few months ago, was addressed as "Chevella Chellamma" (which means Chevella sister in English) by late Y S Rajashekhara Reddy.
After he became Chief Minister in 2004, Rajashekhara Reddy inducted Sabitha Indra Reddy into his Cabinet and gave her Mines and Geology portfolio.
After Rajashekhara Reddy was elected for a second term in 2009, she was made the Home Minister. With it, she went into record books by becoming the first female Home Minister of any state in the country.
After Rajashekara Reddy's demise in 2009, K Rosaiah took over as the AP Chief Minister and later he was succeeded by N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Sabitha's portfolio of Minister for Home, Jail and Disaster Management remained undisturbed and she continued to hold the same post until her resignation in 2013 after CBI named her as an accused in Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy disproportionate assets case.
