SCCL pioneered IT usage in coal sector: DGMS
Khammam: Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS) R Subramanian has praised the services of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
On Tuesday, he attended as the chief guest for 'Information technology in mining and way forward' conference held at Visvesvaraya Bhavan in Hyderabad. Representatives from the Coal India, NMDC and other industries have participated in this conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Subramanian said that the SCCL stood as an example, to all government organisations in the country not only in production of coal but also in the usage of IT. SCCL had introduced the IT decades ago in its company and is standing number one in the country in IT usage.
He stated that Singareni is the only firm that is using the IT in all its departments. The SCCL has to achieve production with advanced technology by 2024, he exhorted. Earlier, he inaugurated the photo gallery of the SCCL and released a special souvenir containing the procedures of IT usage in Singareni.
SCCL Directors, officials of the Directorate of Mines Safety and representatives of the Institution of Engineers India (IEI) participated in the conference.
SCCL Director (Personal and Operations) S Chandrashekar said that the coal industry in the country is facing strong competition and with the help of new IT initiatives and technology female workers will be able to work with full security.
Director (E&M) S Shankar mentioned more than 35,000 tasks and departments have been joined through IT in the 1,200 MW Singareni Thermal Power Plant. IEI Chairman Dr G Rameshwar Rao and others present.
