SCCL workers oppose privatisation of coal sector in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: The Singareni Collieries Workers Union Central Organisation (SCWUCO) secretary Vanaga Venkat on Monday demanded the central government to withdraw the proposal of privatisation the coal sector immediately. Addressing a meeting of the union workers in Kothagudem,he said the central government is planning to give the coal sector to the private hands. According to the programme, the government has formed a high level committee comprising cabinet secretary, Department of Economic affairs secretary, revenue secretary, coal secretary and Niti Aayog vice chairman, he informed.

The government is speeding up the privatisation process of the coal sector. He called up all workers in the company to oppose the government's decision. The union has decided to call for a strike across the country on September 24 against government decision, he said. Leaders of the union G Veeraswamy, Surender, Murali, Ramchander, Ramesh, Ramprasad and others attended the meeting.
