School Management Committees tenure extended by 6 months in Nizamabad
Nizamabad: Commissioner of Education T Vijay Kumar has issued fresh orders for extending the School Management Committee's (SMC) tenure for another six months.
The old committees will continue in public schools until January 30 next year. The decision was taken by the Education Ministry after the deadline for these extended committees expired on Wednesday. This is the third time that the committees have been extended.
The role of teachers in the education and management of public schools is crucial. The government has set up school ownership committees with equal powers. New committees are elected every two years. Currently, the term of the committee ends on July 31 and new members are to be selected. But the government extended the old committees for six months. The SSA ranges from class one to eigth, and from the ninth to interstate, RMSA continues to operate.
Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan is set to bring all these under one umbrella. To this end, the tenure of the old ones seems to have been extended as new guidelines for the process of formation of the SMCs are under consideration. The chairman and members of the committee should be school development partners. The committee shall monitor teacher timeliness, instruction, lunch and other matters of attendance. The committee should support the development of the school.
Third Time Tenure Increase
The school's management committees and chairman will continue as usual until January 30, according to the latest orders from the government. This is the third time that the government has extended the tenure of the committees by making excuses.
Those who continue to be members of the Board of Directors will have to choose new students to replace them if they have completed their schooling. Even if there is no student, the parents are the chairman and the change is inevitable. There are provisions to change the status of students of nine and 10th grades if they continue to be committee members and chairmen. Parents of students want to set up new SMCs and provide funds for the management of schools.
