SCR officials told to ensure safe running of trains during monsoon

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) Additional General Manager John Thomas conducted a detailed review on safety, punctuality and freight loading on Monday at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad, along with the principal heads of departments and Divisional Railway Managers (DRM) of all six divisions i.e., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded, through video conference.

The Additional General Manager stressed on the precautions to be taken for running of the trains during monsoon season. He advised all the DRMs to intensify the patrolling at bridges, tunnels and tanks and vulnerable areas to avoid any unusual occurrences. He also instructed to make action plans to ensure safety of the track during monsoon season. He advised all the officers and staff to strictly avoid short cut methods in day-to-day train operations. John Thomas reviewed the signal and engineering failures during the onset of monsoon season.

On the punctuality aspect, he advised all the DRMs to personally monitor and draw an action plan to attain optimal punctuality duly ensuring safe working. During the meeting, he also instructed all the DRMs to take special attention on the progress of elimination of manned-level crossings. He also reviewed the progress on the implementation of e-office and Unique Medical Identity Card (UMID) registrations by employees and pensioners.

Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Vijay Agarwal and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
