Secunderabad: Footpath occupied; pedestrians fume
Secunderabad: The increasing encroachments of footpaths along several roads in Secunderabad Cantonment area have been causing severe inconvenience to pedestrians.
Pedestrians walking on Maredpally from Ramsari Hotel to Eshwaribai bus stop find it difficult to walk on footpath as several vehicles are parked in front of liquor shops on the road. Pan shops on the road have also narrowed the road, causing severe inconvenience to pedestrians walking along the road. Further, haphazard parking of vehicles on the road often leads to traffic jams on the road.
Petty traders, such as tiffin centres, fast food centers, have encroached on footpaths, along the SD Road from Maredpally Polytechnic College to Shine Nursing home besides the newly laid white topping roads, causing hardships to pedestrians. Adding to this, parking by those who come for shopping block the roads, often resulting in traffic jams in the area. This problem is acute around liquor shops, where parked vehicles block half of the 60-ft road. Local, speaking to THI, urged traffic officials to take permanent measures to address the issue.
